What Ingredients are used?
Beetroot- Fresh grated beetroot. First, peel them and then grate them to make the kebab. Potato - Grated boiled potato. You can use mashed boiled potato; however, I love to use grated potatoes for a smooth texture. Carrot-grated carrots for a lovely texture. Fresh green chilies (chopped), fresh chopped cilantro, grated ginger. Besides, many lovely spices give them a perfect kebab taste: red chili powder, dry mango powder/anardana powder, garam masala powder, black salt, and chaat Masala. If you cannot find dry mango or Anardana powder, use one tbsp of lime juice instead. Sattu flour (roasted chickpea flour/Gram flour) can make these kebabs. However, if you use gram flour (besan), roast it on a slow flame before adding it to the kebab. Raw gram flour doesn’t taste good. Cashews are used for that added effect, and oil /ghee is used to cook the kebab.
Can we air fry or bake them?
Yes, you can certainly do that. I have air-fried them often but do not like baking them because it takes a lot of time. I have also figured that to prevent drying up, we must brush the kebabs with oil before air-frying them. So, we might as well shallow-fry them sometimes. Of course, the taste doesn’t change that much, though.
How to Serve the Beetroot Kebab?
I serve them with a dip, chutney, and lovely crunchy veggie fruit salad. Paratha, naan, or any flatbread served with them will make the meal more hearty and filling. You can serve them with buns or bread. They taste great as a veggie burger.
Can we store the Beetroot Kebab?
Absolutely. Cook them in big batches, cool them (let them come to room temperature), and store them in freezer-safe boxes. Use parchment paper between the layers to avoid sticking. Or you can store them uncooked and shallow fry them before serving. This way, they can stay suitable for up to two weeks, provided they are frozen and you have followed all the storage advice.
