When to have this spicy dumpling?

You want something comforting to soothe your soul and mind any time, any day. Allergy season is always hard on me. Every year twice, my sinus also gives me a lot of pain; for those times, this soup is the best thing to have. Your sinus pressure will be released, and allergic sneezing will take the back door. The idea of having boiled store-bought or homemade dumplings/gyoza with simple spicy, tangy, and sharp flavors is genius. Soft and melt-in-mouth flavorful dumplings are served with scallion chili oil, sesame seeds, soy sauce, and fresh scallions.

What type of Dumplings do we need?

That’s the beauty of this recipe. You can use any dumpling, gyoza, veg, or non-veg. You can make them from scratch as well. I love how quick it is to pull a quick meal together.

What is Hot & Sour Dumpling?

Hot sour dumpling is from Shaanxi providence. The main ingredient of this dish is black vinegar; however, if we do not get that, we can use rice vinegar.

Can I tone down the spice level in this dish?

Absolutely. The sauce we’re using in this recipe is not very spicy. However, if you don’t like this spice level and want to tone down the flavor, go ahead. Use less gochugaru or red chili flakes.

How to cook easy hot & sour dumplings?

The first step is to cook dumplings by boiling them in water. You can use Veg stock or Chicken stock as well. The second step is to make the sauce. Mix chopped garlic, scallion or green onion, sesame seeds, Korean chili flakes(gochugaru), and a little salt. Heat some cooking oil and pour over this mixture. Your scallion chili oil is ready. Now take a serving bowl. Add dark soy sauce, brown sugar, black vinegar or rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Mix everything together with scallion oil and one cup of dumpling water. Add 5-6 dumplings to the bowl. Garnish with scallion or cilantro, and serve.
