In Indian vegetarian cuisine, Paneer is quite popular because it is delicious and protein-rich. My family loves paneer dishes, so I always try to make different and new recipes for them.

What is Gochujang Paneer?

Korean Gochujang is the primary ingredient in the sauce mix. It is a thick and sticky Korean red chili paste made of glutinous rice, fermented soybean red pepper flakes, salt, and a little bit of sugar. This sauce has a different level of spice. You can choose according to your taste. I have tossed the crispy paneer in a sauce made of gochujang,gochugaru, soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, scallions, garlic, and fresh chilies. I have also tossed some crunchy veggies in the sauce, elevating this dish’s level.

Can I use tofu Instead?

Yes. For vegan alternatives, extra firm tofu can be used. Ideally, you can use your choice of protein or any vegetable.

How to make paneer crispy?

I used cornstarch mixed with a few spices to coat the paneer pieces. Make sure to coat them well and remove the excess cornstarch. You can cube the paneer pieces or tear them into bite-size pieces. I have shallow-fried them in hot oil for a crispy texture. However, they can also be air-fried, deep-fried, or baked.

How to make Gochujang Sauce?

I have whisked together gochujang,gochugaru, sesame oil, rice wine vinegar, brown sugar /coconut sugar, and dark soy sauce to form a delicious sauce. Later, it is cooked with aromatics and lots of scallions to create a wonderful sauce mix. Crispy paneer is tossed in the sauce to make the most delicious gochujang paneer.

How to serve?

They taste best when served with white rice and cool cucumber slices but are also suitable as a snack or appetizer.
