Spicy with a perfect texture, these long beans are a garlic, chili-flavored fun dish which goes well with rice, roti, or both. Vegan and gluten-free. This long beans recipe is my go-to recipe for serving roti //Indian flat bread or rice /dal. I love how without putting much effort, we can always make this in under twenty minutes of our time. Long beans are full of fiber and vitamins. They are pretty delicious if you are using them fresh. Fresh ingredients don’t require a ton of spices and sauces. Sometimes clean flavors are perfect for our palate. This recipe is of that type, and I am sure you will love it.
What is Long Bean?
They’re called Chinese long beans. They resemble green beans yet are very different. They are longer than green beans, and their outer skin is slightly rustic or not as smooth as green beans.
Where can we find Long Beans?
Asian Stores or Indian grocery stores are the perfect places to find them. However, I have seen them in farmers’ markets as well. If you have a problem getting the long beans, this dish can be prepared with regular green beans. The taste will be the same, delicious.
What Ingredients do we need to cook the spicy stir-fried long beans?
Chinese Long Beans/Green Beans. Onion garlic Red Chili Powder Tomato Turmeric Powder Red chili sauce/ Sri Racha Sauce. Cooking oil Salt
How to Cook?
After you wash and dry the long beans, chop them into one-inch-long pieces. Take a heated pan or wok. When the oil is hot, first add chopped garlic; let it turn golden .oil will be garlicky fragrant. Add onion, Sliced Ginger, and saute. Further, add long beans, salt, turmeric, and red chili powder. Mix everything together and cover for a minute. Add chopped tomato to the pan. Mix and cook till it sweats. Remove the cover and cook on medium /low flame until it looks cooked. The texture will not be very mushy, and beans will hold their shape. At this point, add sauce and mix properly. Remove from the pan and serve.
